Steps For Hospice 2011 5k Walk/Run

An afternoon of family fun transpired in Buffalo, MM at Sturges Park on Sunday September 25 when nearly 200 participants came together to walk or run in our 2nd annual 5K Steps for Hospice. The CHF is in a major campaign to raise 1 million dollars and start the construction to build the first residential hospice house across from Sturges Park this year.

We had 15 teams of walkers and individual walkers and runners come out to enjoy the beautiful fall day. Along with the 5K we had several free family activities to also participate in; face painting, hair coloring, bean bag
toss, ladders, food vendors, and entertainment including community ambassadors from all over Wright County.

Prizes are awarded for the high team and high individual walker. For the  second year Cub Food of Buffalo - Cubbies were high team fundraisers, receiving donations and pledges of nearly $3,000 and Roseanne Harris walked and was our high individual walker again this year.

We also gave awards to our 1st and 2nd place runners:
1st Place Mens overall-Skip Fitting with a time of 20:07 (he was also 1st
in the 55 and better!)
2nd Place Mens -Bill brown
1st Place Women -Jolleen Sorenson
2nd Place women -Tami Perkins
Overall 17 and under- Andrew Zeiss

This amazing group of planning committee members, volunteers, walkers, runners and friends raised over $12,000.00 to add to our total dollars to start this construction and hopefully to continue this event to help
sustain the hospice house service in the future.
